Baird Speculative is a new online periodical with a few basic goals in mind.

One is to publish the best anthologies of new, fresh authors in the various areas/niches of speculative fiction. Essentially that means the subgenres and hybrids inherent to the genres of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Steampunk, Cyberpunk, Horror, Speculative Fiction, etc etc. All these have been tread by the pens of millions of writers over the years, but we want to revitalize each with a new twist on the conventional tropes.

Second, we want to give new, unheard authors another outlet to get published. We’ve all been there. Struggling to find a market for your excellent piece of UFO steampunk X-Files fiction, but there just seems to be no place for it. Well, keep checking back here and there’s a pretty good chance it’ll fit in just fine for one of our future publications.

Our final (public) goal is just to inspire people to want to write. We want people to feel that spark of creativity and put pen to paper. Then we want them to send their finished product to us so that we can publish it (ed: our legal guy, Terry, wants us to mention that we have to reject the majority of submissions. Sorry, he’s a buzzkill).
